In line with Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC)’s strategy to enhance the tourism services ecosystem and improve the traveler experience in Aqaba through elevating the quality of services provided to passengers at the King Hussein International Airport, ADC in collaboration with the airport management, has launched a pioneering free-of-charge guidance and assistance service “Here To Help” at King Hussein International Airport, a vital tourism gateway to the city and one of its key entry points. The service aims to increase travelers’ comfort and improve their arrival and departure experience through a well-planned framework that allows for performance assessment and ongoing improvement.

The project is implemented through a contract with a specialized company to provide the “Here To Help” service, delivered by a distinguished team of local residents of Aqaba, carefully selected and trained to serve as ambassadors for the city. The team possesses high professionalism, hospitality, and cultural and tourism awareness. It includes engineers from various specialties, a doctor and nurses, tourism and hospitality experts, and multilingual specialists fluent in six languages, enabling the delivery of high-quality professional services that reflect Jordanian hospitality and present Aqaba’s cultural and urban identity to visitors.

The service includes welcoming travelers and accompanying them throughout all stages of their journey within the airport, providing essential information on airport logistics and available facilities. It also offers comprehensive tourist information about attractions, activities, and events in Aqaba and nearby destinations such as Wadi Rum and Petra. The “Here To Help” team facilitates access to this information through a QR code on their uniforms, which links directly to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority’s tourism website (visitaqaba.com). The website offers rich, comprehensive content about historical sites, tourist and marine activities, diving, shopping and service locations, and other unique experiences available to visitors. Additionally, the team provides special support for the elderly and people with disabilities to ensure smooth movement within the airport facilities.

This initiative demonstrates ADC’s commitment to human capacity development as a core part of Aqaba’s strategy to promote economic and social growth through investing in youth talent in addition to the creation of a sustainable environment that supports national objectives. It also highlights the pivotal role of youth in enhancing tourism services and presenting a positive image of the Kingdom, contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.

In recent years, effective collaborative strategy among multiple government entities to expand the aviation network and attract more visitors to Aqaba lead to an increase in low-cost and seasonal flights to Aqaba, connecting the city to European and global markets and strengthening air links with tourist cities. This initiative is one of several improvements and changes that ADC is implementing at King Hussein International Airport to enhance the passenger experience. The company aims to transform the airport into a primary gateway for Aqaba by upgrading facilities, investing into operational equipment upgrades, simplifying procedures and expediting passenger flow, thereby reinforcing Aqaba’s position as a more competitive regional tourism hub.

ADC continues to implement its ambitious plans, guided by a royal vision, to elevate Aqaba’s status as a global and regional hub for diverse investments into tourism, logistics, and sustainability, through developing integrated world-class infrastructure, attracting quality investments, and improving essential services.
