About Us

Overview of ADC’s establishment, role, and management of Aqaba’s strategic assets.

The Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) was established in 2004 by an initiative of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), with the clear objective of unlocking the full economic potential of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) and accelerating its growth into a leading regional hub for investment and business.

We are a private shareholding company, governed by the highest standards of corporate governance through a Board of Directors, and we manage strategic assets that represent Jordan’s gateway to the world. ADC owns the Port of Aqaba and its airport, along with strategic land and vital infrastructure, and is authorized to develop, manage, and operate these assets.

Investment Promotion & Attraction

ADC is tasked to create strategic investment opportunities and promote them to attract private foreign and local investors into the zone. ADC as the investment arm of the government of Jordan in Aqaba acts as the entry point of contact for investors seeking to invest within ASEZ.

City Development & Enabling Growth

ADC participates in the development of the ASEZ masterplan and is mandated to execute the masterplan, develop related infrastructure and provide services that aim to realize the vision and enable private sector partnerships and investments. ADC invests into enabling projects to stimulate growth of key sectors in Aqaba.

Management of Lands & Assets

ADC is the owner of Aqaba’s real estate assets and strategic parcels of land, as well as the development / management rights for these assets. ADC aims to stimulate the zone’s economy and promote growth through development of its assets into investable opportunities.

Port & Airport Ownership & Operation

ADC is the owner of Aqaba’s 12 Ports and the King Hussein International Airport, and owns the management rights for these assets, key infrastructures, and utilities. ADC strives to optimize private sector partnerships in the management & operations of ports and the airport.

The Scale of What We Steward

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone covers 375 square kilometres and the entirety of Jordan's 27-kilometre Red Sea coastline. Within it sit Jordan's seaports, King Hussein International Airport, dedicated industrial estates, and a tourism sector that today represents roughly one in five hotel rooms in the entire Kingdom. Since the Zone's launch, committed investment in Aqaba has surpassed US$26 billion, a measure of the confidence the world has placed in this place.

Our Approach: Partnership

ADC pioneered the public-private partnership model in Jordan and has used it to bring in some of the world's leading developers and operators. The result is better services, greater efficiency, sustainable revenue, and a steadily widening pipeline of opportunity.
