A Vision For the Red Sea, Set in Motion
Aqaba's story begins with a vision. In 2001, His Majesty King Abdullah II set out to reimagine Jordan's only coastal city, to reclaim its ancient role as a trade crossroads and reposition it as a modern hub for tourism, investment, technology, and comprehensive development. From that vision, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone was born, and in 2004, Aqaba Development Corporation was established to make it real.
That vision has only deepened with time. Today Aqaba stands at the heart of Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, a national blueprint for growth, jobs, and global competitiveness, and continues to draw the close attention of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Aqaba is no longer only a destination on Jordan's map; it is an economic artery for the entire Kingdom and a launch pad for its most ambitious national projects.
