The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), and AD Ports Group today launched the operations of Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions, marking a strategic step in accelerating digital transformation across the ports and logistics sector and strengthening Aqaba’s competitiveness as a regional trade and logistics hub on the Red Sea.
The company’s operations were launched during a ceremony held in Aqaba under the patronage of Shadi Ramzi Al Majali, Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority’s Board of Commissioners. The ceremony was attended by Aqaba Governor Ayman Al Awaysheh; Mohamed Al Tamimi, CEO of Noatum Ports, a subsidiary of AD Ports Group; ADC CEO Hussein Safadi; and a number of officials, partners, and stakeholders.
Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions is a Jordanian-registered company established as a strategic partnership between ADC and AD Ports Group through Noatum Ports, the Group’s international ports operations arm. The partnership represents an advanced model of economic integration, combining expertise to develop innovative digital and logistics solutions.
The company will manage, operate, and develop the Truck Control and Monitoring Project in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone through an integrated digital platform designed to enhance operational efficiency and logistics services for the various stakeholders operating across the sector.
Dr. Mohammad Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment, said that the Authority launched the Truck Control and Monitoring Project in 2005, making Aqaba an early leader in developing a specialised system for managing logistics movements connected to the ports and economic sectors.
The project initially served around 2,000 trucks per day and has expanded alongside Aqaba’s rapid growth to currently handle between 3,500 and 4,000 trucks per day in coordination with Maqta Ayla, with record volumes exceeding 4,500 trucks on some days. This growth reflects Aqaba’s expanding role as a regional logistics hub.
Abu Omar said: “We view Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions as a strategic partner in implementing the Authority’s vision of developing an advanced business environment built around technology and innovation, and strengthening Aqaba’s position as a leading regional hub for trade and logistics. Its advanced solutions will contribute to developing the logistics and port ecosystem, enhancing service efficiency, improving the experience of investors and users, and strengthening Aqaba’s competitiveness and ability to attract further high-value investment.”
Abu Omar also expressed his appreciation to all partners, including the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, the National Customs authorities, port and logistics companies, security agencies, the project’s former operator, and all other stakeholders, commending their cooperation, coordination, and dedicated efforts in supporting the project and achieving its objectives.
For his part, ADC CEO Hussein Safadi said that launching the company’s operations represents an important milestone in the development of Aqaba’s digital infrastructure and demonstrates the success of ADC’s partnership approach with leading regional and global institutions.
He highlighted the strategic partnership with AD Ports Group, describing it as one of the world’s leading and most experienced organizations in port development, management, and operations, with a strong global presence and extensive operational expertise.

Al Tamimi noted that Maqta Ayla has completed the first phase of the Truck Traffic Management Project in Aqaba, which aims to organize truck movements, improve traffic flow, and reduce waiting times.
He added that the company will contribute to enhancing supply chain efficiency and streamlining operational processes by deploying advanced digital technologies and artificial intelligence, creating added value for all partners and stakeholders.
