In 2010, a BOT Agreement was signed between Aqaba Development Corporation and Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. To Develop and Operate The New Phosphate Terminal. In 2012, construction was completed and the terminal became operational.
The scope of the project consist of constructing and operating a new Phosphate Marine Terminal and Storage Facility with an original design capacity of 4–6 million tons of rock phosphate; current operating capacity is 10 million tons per year after its upgrade.
